Considering its status as Germany’s financial and commercial centre, it is hardly surprising that Frankfurt presents a wealth of gastronomic opportunities to travellers. All tastes and budgets are catered for here.
The city’s main shopping street, the Zeil, is peppered with restaurants that always have a good atmosphere. Other parts of the city known for their good selection of restaurants include Bornheim, Sachsenhausen and Bornheim which is just north of the city centre.
The best places to sample some of the local culinary delights aren’t in the restaurants, but instead in cider houses. While they specialise in ‘Aprelwein’, they also have a good selection of local dishes to choose from. The best selection of these is in Frankfurt’s Sachsenhausen district.
